The Network for Graduate Studies in Feminist Economics (NGSFE) is a global community of graduate programs and individuals who connect, create, and implement cooperative activities to advance feminist economics as an area of study in institutions around the world.
Currently, there are very few universities and departments of economics that provide formal training in feminist economics, while many feminist economists are working in isolation - being the only one in their institution (or even country). Also, young scholars are looking for institutions that offer graduate training in feminist economics, often not knowing where to find them. 

Our primary goal is to facilitate collaboration that supports the development and strengthening of institutional capacities to integrate feminist scholarship into economics programs across the globe, breaking silos between scholars, universities, and interested students; fostering the training of the next generation of feminist economics. 

WHAT THE NGSFE DOES 
As IAFFE exists as a global association of members who are committed to advancing feminist economics more broadly, NGSFE focuses specifically on strategic pathways that work well to build feminist economics into graduate programs and to co-create tangible cooperative activities to bring these to life.

CONNECT & CARE | SHARE & LEARN | CO-CREATE & IMPLEMENT
At the foundation of NGSFE is relationship and community building. Building on this, members then participate in peer learning and support activities to exchange and identify promising practices for progressing feminist economics at the institutional level, and then ultimately collaborating together to create cooperative programs. 
The three cooperative programs that are currently underway include:
  1. Co-created online course or module certificate program 
  2. Resource library or database of materials and experts 
  3. Communication strategy and tools to amplify successful feminist economics programs and to tell the story of the importance of having this area of study as part of an institution

Other activities undertaken by the NGSFE to date include workshops on developing graduate programs, and online research seminars. 

BECOME AN NGSFE MEMBER 
NGSFE members are expected to participate regularly in virtual activities - including full member gatherings and smaller group ideation sessions. Active participation is essential to share perspectives and learnings, and to contribute to the development of cooperative programs. Members should also contribute their expertise and feminist economics materials to resources or other outputs. It is highly encouraged that members sign up for working groups that focus on the development of these cooperative programs (such as the three listed above).

We welcome individuals from:
  • Graduate programs teaching or planning to teach feminist economics
  • Programs where feminist economics is part of a broader curriculum
  • Programs planning to introduce feminist economics
  • Faculty and individuals engaged in feminist economics training

We welcome those with experience or interest in integrating feminist economics at different levels (BA, MA, PhD, certificate/extension/non-degree programs, non-academic training, etc., either full fledged or having FE as a part of the program/course(s)). We are beginning with graduate-level initiatives and will expand to other levels over time.
